No to incineration in Wales

The Merthyr campaign's victory should hearten us all. In Cardiff and Newport, where incinerators are still planned, we need to send a clear message that toxic waste-burning is not acceptable anywhere in Wales -- not near our homes, not near our neighbors, not in our air! In Barry Dock, where the Council gave outline planning permission for 80 00 tonnes pa waste burning, tell them no!

The story of the Welsh government collusion over Covanta's incinerator proposed near Merthyr - and just abandoned - is given by South Wales WIN using documents obtained under Freedom of Information.

DELAY TO DECISION on Mass fish kill by EdF's Hinkley-C nuke plant !

English Environment Agency appeared at the Public Inquiry in June, opposing EDF's proposal to drop the

condition requiring an acoustic Fish Deterrent at the intake of nuclear cooling water !

Twaite and Alis shad, lampreys and eels are protected species in our Severn Estuary "Special Area of Conservation". NNB Genco does not even propose "best" techniques to protect them from being sucked into the power station. Natural Resources Wales have criticised the details of the screen which is coarser than optimum for silver eels and that the assessment ignores our vulnerable species. The Minister's decision is still awaited - groups including Save-the-Severn Estuary are preparing for battle. Designation of the Marine Protected Area in 2018 should end the licence for this seawater intake

Incinerator Battle still Ongoing

@ Welsh Govt stumped over their fake Environmental Impact Assessment, as the company has been forced to withdraw their 2017 application.

@ The incinerator stands with no planning consent, challenging the Vale Council and Welsh Government to stop it operating unlawfully.

@ The VoG Council are taking enforcement action as the company's construction is substantially different from the 2015 Conditions planning application. Also EIA law says no planning permission can be granted without the company applying for and securing EIA-consent. They won't apply because they won't risk failing to get it.

Hinkley Mud Battle

Hinkley mud dumping at Portishead. Pressure and Welsh laws blocked further dumping in Cardiff Grounds

Mud excavated from sub-seabed tunnels has been dumped ashore, used to build bunds, as all could be. Yet the company is now excavating and dumping several times more at Portishead near Avonmouth. The Severn Estuary Coalition of environmental and marine-life groups have raised funds for Court action to quash the dumping licence granted by the English MMO. Disappointingly the judge rejected the judicial review in March. The Save-the-Severn group is fighting on, with a Petition to the Senedd added to other moves
